Common questions

I’m missing a notification

Check that your GitHub account is linked to Slack and that Floka is still installed in your workspace.

The GitHub App needs access to the repository. An installation on an organization doesn’t necessarily include every repo; ask an org admin to check its repository access.

In settings, make sure the notification type is enabled. Comments, reviews, mentions, and review requests from GitHub bots are off by default. Floka sends activity involving you, such as a review request, a mention, or an update on your PR.

Also check that the repository hasn’t been muted in your personal settings.

I need help connecting my accounts

Sign in with the GitHub account you use to write and review code. Then connect Slack and install the GitHub App for the repos you want notifications from.

Your Slack workspace may require approval to install Floka. For a GitHub organization, an org admin may need to install the app or grant access to more repos. Your teammates don’t need their own Floka accounts for you to receive notifications.

On your first Slack connection, Floka sends a clearly labelled sample DM. If GitHub sign-in doesn’t finish, allow the redirect and try signing in again.

I’m getting notifications I don’t want

You can choose each notification type in settings, including requests to review, activity on your PRs, mentions, and replies in threads you’ve joined. Bot activity has separate switches.

To pause your notifications, turn off all the switches. Removing the GitHub or Slack app affects everyone using that installation, so use your personal settings when you only want to change your own DMs.
